Shane began his shooting career at the age of ten with an air rifle. He progressed to a twenty bore shotgun under the tutelage of his grandfather and father. He competed in many local, regional and international events in Ireland and the U.K. He has also been a very keen game shooting man although this is no longer the case. He was further taught to shoot and then teach by Rex Gage and Ken Davies of the famous Holland & Holland Shooting School in Northwood, London. In 1979 he then opened his own shooting school in Ireland teaching many game shooting individuals and clay pigeon shooters and continued to compete in the sport. During the 80's and 90's Shane travelled a minimum of four times a year to the U.S.A. and twice a year to Mexico to teach shooting. From Chicago in the north, down through Rhode Island, New York Sate, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Florida and Texas, Shane has taught regularly at many shooting grounds both public and private and has been fortunate to teach regularly in two locations in Mexico. Some of his clients are competition clay pigeon shooters, some are game shooting individuals. Many hundreds of ladies and gentlemen have taken their first formative steps with a gun under his guidance. Having moved recently to Connemara, Shane, with the blessing of the regional Garda Siochana and the Irish Clay Pigeon Shooting Association decided to re-open his shooting school here in Connemara. Meeting his compatriot Werner Cook and discovering a meticulous, ex Bisley shooting coach, they decided to cover all aspects of shooting and it is to this that they invite you or if inconvenient for you to come to them, they can most certainly entertain the idea of bringing themselves to you.
